I know I've said once before, but...

Your work is amazing! There's so much detail going on in almost every corner of the drawing that it's almost mesmerizing. Combined with the awesome palette and arrangement of subjects this makes for one kick-ass composition.

That background is the icing on the cake and really completes the theme if I were to say. Seems to almost to envelop the entire atmosphere in the moment of the epic battle that is about to occur.

Keep on cranking this stuff out man!

And I know I've said this to you, pal, but I have no problem saying again to your kind words: THANK YOU! :D

Amazing. Just amazing.

This just totally takes my breath away! I was once a big Warcraft player, and this gives me a huge urge to play again. The way you composed the subjects, mixed vibrant colors with realistic textures, and introduced the two characters in such powerful poses just has me in a trance.

Incredible work, I'd get it on a shirt and wear it proudly!

Words cannot describe the amount of awesome!

But I must write a review! The amount of remarkable detail, impeccably clean line work, and a great video-game reference to put it all together is absolutely stunning.

I loved playing the Twisted Metal series back in the day and still do, and with the combination of both your amazing artistic ability and unique anthro style, this rendition puts it to great honor. The way you detailed each character to match the originals is overall pretty successful, and you were able to anthromorph each one perfectly without being too over-the-top.

The layout also works well; placing each character next to their individualized vehicle adds a lot more depth to their attitudes and personalities. My only hope is that you're planning on releasing a version with color.

Please continue gracing the community with your illustrations, as they're nothing short of incredible. Excellent work!

Amazingly epic!

Incredible use of colors and character placement. The way you drew this concept in your own style gives it awesome flair, and it has that look of an old '50s or '60s comic book cover. It's exciting, fun, and appealing to say the least.

The line work is solid and clean, the yellow tint to the color palette works perfectly, and the poster in it's entirety just says everything about Newgrounds successfully. If this poster doesn't speak epic, I don't know what does.

Excellent work, hope it grabs the front page!

Another excellent work of art!

This gives me a similar vibe to your "Giving Wings" painting, only with a slightly darker and more comforting feeling. It gives me the sense of being cornered, or trapped, but then a warm, glowing light comes forth, surrounding me and returning my security. What I love so much about most of your work is that they have that sort of gentle atmosphere and kind message to them, coupled with smooth visuals and fantastic color palettes that seem to mesh the entire painting together so well.

There isn't much in the way of constructive criticism, because your style is so fresh and clean, and much of your art has few areas in need of improvement, if any. You show an excellent skill in creating a fully believable environment, full of soft colors and lovable characters, and you're able to emphasize much of that all within a well-balanced composition.

Great work, I'm blown away once again!

Thanks for another lovely review! It always feels good to know I'm conveying exactly what I intend to in a piece. :3

Pretty, colorful, all-around interesting.

These appear so vivid, bursting with life and energy, containing all the qualities of an outstanding assortment of bookmarks. Not only do they visually peak my interest, but they also bring about such amazing imagination in both content and variety of colorful imagery.

The unique, artsy, and fantasy style of subject matter presented in all three give off a strangely awesome vibe, and would make me more than excited to reopen that book just to see one of these again! Clean line work and incredible use of color blending, as well an overall balanced layout of forms. Great work!

Thank you :>

Breathtaking!

There's so much depth and epic atmosphere to this, and yet its simplicity and subtle use of colors go so easy on the eye. Viewing it firsthand, the focal rhythm and exciting key points completely suck me in and create such an overwhelming sense of mysticalness.

There are several aspects of this illustration that give off a great sense of interest, such as the unique use of an angled horizon line, the moody gray clouds, and the detailed textures of the dragon, rocks, and ocean surface. I even notice the small and hard-to-see patches of moss and grass growing along the rocks! Incredible.

All of these elements wrap together perfectly and complement one another in such a way that it renders a completely believable mix of fantasy and realism. Outstanding work, this is one of my favorite pieces by you.

I must ask though, what program did you use and how long would you say it took you to complete?

Amaruuk responds:

All my digital paintings are done in Photoshop (Until I learn Painter anyway). This particular one was done a good year and a half ago in CS4. I was running a crummy laptop back then so it took me a few days to do this one. In contrast, my two most recent paintings were done in a couple of several-hour sittings.

Such depth and softness of color!

This is incredible! This is an excellent demonstration and mixture of color blending and subject harmony. The art in its entirety is filled with such smooth movement and visual acuity that it gives off a wonderfully soft and friendly atmospheric vibe. The colors work very well together as well, and set a deep overtone of varying gentle hues.

The design of the creatures and setting all fit appropriately and complement one another perfectly. The placement of every element couldn't have been better and create an overall comfortable balance, making it easy on the eye.

Looking at this composition firsthand, it gives me the feel of a fantasy style crossover of Lion King and an old biblical scene. It truly leaves me speechless and feeling... warm and secure, if I were to describe it accurately. Brilliant work!

Amaruuk responds:

Oh, wow. Not everyday I get such a lovely review! Thank you so much!

Most interesting of the Flood this week.

Although you rushed on a lot of aspects of the drawing to finish it in time, I feel like they actually turned out well. The sleeves do look a bit unnatural and bumpy, but the way the lower legs and feet came out look awesome. It makes it appear as though she's some sort of ghostly and provocative geisha type character.

The simplicity in the overall design works great, and the bits of red you added in the outfit lining, makeup, and flower make the character so interesting. Your proportions are perfect, and the composition is balanced nicely due to the way the cloth belt, hair, and sleeve were placed. Awesome work!

Clean look, soft overtone.

The line work of the character is pretty clean, and the way you applied colors give her a very soft, glowing, almost entrancing appearance.

My problems with the drawing however, comes from a few different areas. I'm sure you were going for a cute and simple design, but the lack of a background, or at least a background color, make me lose interest from the overall drawing very quickly.

Also, I feel you could have done a bit more with the actual colors. The flat palette of pink hues and gradients look good to a certain extent, but don't really make anything "pop". Her blue eye is perhaps the only thing that keeps me focused on the character. I feel like it would add much more contrast and focal interest in the drawing if you made both eyes the same blue color.

Overall, I actually really like the way she turned out. She comes across as so... hypnotizing. Great work!
